This is your USD News Minute.

Juneteenth is almost here! Please join us and celebrate with the USD community. The Black Employee Alliance and Mission Integration are inviting you to attend, learn about the holiday, and enjoy lunch. Please join us on Thursday, June 15, 2023, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the Dillabough Ministry Center.

Dean of SOLES, Dr. Kimberly White-Smith is holding her last community conversation event today, monday June 5 at 2 p.m. at the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. Dean White-Smith has held four community conversation events this year where she has connected with the community to share her vision for SOLES.

Winners have been announced for the 2023 Jacobs Teen Innovation Challenge, a program ran by The Jacobs Institute for Innovation in Education at USD. Students and educators from around the world who participated in the 4th annual challenge worked together to build a better world by creating solutions to local and global problems. The winning project was created by three eighth grade students from Mt. Everest Academy in San Diego. The students, with the support of educator Eric Nielsen, created a product called FIREfly, to improve household air quality.
