The Warriors FILMING LOCATIONS | Part Three | The Orphans

This is Part 3 of my Filming Locations Tour for the 40th Anniversary of The Warriors. It’s the scene with The Orphans! On their way home they continue to encounter obstacles and this was going to be an entertaining one.

This scene covers area in three different boroughs of New York City. You will see the location where the gang is derailed by the suspicious fire and first meet the green shirt wearing Orphans. It’s also the introduction of Mercy the troublemaker. It is a neighborhood that is once again intended to be The Bronx and once again is not. It is 45th Road in Queens and 62nd Street in Brooklyn. The production team created the illusion they were right around the corner from each other. Some neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens are but these two are about 40 minutes apart with routine traffic in the area. The Molotov Cocktail part occurs in Brooklyn and the scene comes to a close when they make a run for it down the block to the New Utrecht Train Station.

You will also see the Manhattan store location where Luther and the Rogues pull up to use the phone and not pay the money they owe.

Mercy was originally intended to be paired up with Fox. Recurring problems with Thomas Waites, and better on screen chemistry with Michael Beck lead to the change with Swan. ..And the die was cast.
