Transformer Move - Pontiac, MI

Buckingham Transport / Wolfe House Movers transported this 432,820 lb transformer from Flat Rock, MI to a new substation in Pontiac, MI. The transformer was too tall to make the 50 mile move by road so we moved it from its original substation where it sat in storage, to a rail siding 2 miles away and loaded it onto a rail car. This move was done with 12 lines of Goldhofer E-Steer SPMT trailers. Once the rail car arrived at a rail siding in Pontiac, we trans-loaded it to 14 lines of Goldhofer THP/SL and THP/ADDrive trailers. The permitted load was 110’ long and weighed 615,600 lbs overall. The second move was close to 10 miles and needed quite a few bucket trucks to lift the utility lines and traffic signals while we slipped the unit underneath. Once we arrived at the new site, we unloaded the transformer with our Hydraulic Jack & Slide System.
