The Crazy Plans For Emergency Spacewalks To Save The Space Shuttle
During the Space Shuttle program there were always people trying to anticipate every problem in advance and plan for them. Some situations would require emergency EVAs by astronauts to stow hardware or close doors. These were referred to as 'contingency EVAs' and a few of them required ideas that seemed a bit crazy, but were in fact the results to finding the safest way to bring the crew and vehicle home safely.
