Dear Reader,

The words you are about to read were penned by my
hand, conjured with my mind, sprung from my spirit.
The tale I tell, abducted from my bosom and held
for ransom. Spirited away by a phantom in the night.
Yet, I relinquished my claim like a blind mute grasping
in the dark silence of an endless night.
Left in it’s place, my riven heart, pitched to the ground,
forsaken like the empty husk it has become. Betrayed by
a contrived act of love, naively drawn into the lie; I
closed my eyes and he led the way.

I assign no burden onto anyone but myself. What was
greedily taken from me, I freely gave with no hesitation.
But, I am no longer obscured by emotion and the truth is easy
to decipher.
Alas, what was stolen cannot be reclaimed and the honor
will not be ascribed to its creator.
I am but a faceless ghost on the page he submits for publication.
Yet the words are mine, they are etched on my soul.
