Why Door Zone Cycle Lanes are Dangerous

They seem to be popular amongst Councils that feel that they have to bow down to the cycling lobby and say "Look at all these lovely green cycle lanes that we've put in for you".

However, as the road safety departments at very same Councils will tell you, you should not cycle in the door zone.

Here's an incident that happened to me this week. I didn't shout at the driver or confront him, there was no point. His cry of "Sorry Mate" and the look of shock on his face means that he'll probably have a second look next time he opens his door in the future.
