Amandla Stenberg talks candidly about race, blackness and The Hate U Give - TIFF Press Conference

The Hate U Give, based on the book by Angie Thomas, premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. It stars Amandla Stenberg (Rue from The Hunger Games, Everything Everything), Regina Hall, Russell Hornsby, Anthony Mackie, Issa Rae, Common, Algee Smith, Sabrina Carpenter, K. J. Apa, and Lamar Johnson. It is directed by George Tillman Jr and adapted by Audrey Wells.

PLOT: Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Now, facing pressures from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what's right.

The Hate U Give is released in the US on the 19th of October, 2018 and in the UK on the 26th of October.
