Help Me Howard - Parked in Front / Follow Up

Help Me Howard: Parked in Front / Follow Up. A neighbor kept their car parked in front of a South Florida family's house and refused to move it when asked. After the story aired on Help me Howard, viewers responded, big time. Here's Patrick Fraser with the update.

WSVN -- When we first met Matt and Andrea Banzin they had a problem that seemed simple to solve.. Watch part 1 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Nx1w0xV3nw

Andrea Banzin: "Where they are constantly using our house as a parking spot. A permanent parking spot for their vehicle."

A neighbor that lived across the street was parking in front of the Banzins house instead of their own home. As a result, that sometimes stopped the mail carrier from delivering the mail to their house.

Andrea Banzin: "Its a game to them. We have seen them bragging to the other neighbors how much fun it is. I dont know. I dont understand."

Patrick Fraser: "I am Patrick Fraser with Channel 7 Help me Howard."

I walked over to talk to the neighbor, Paul Dematteis to ask him why he parked in front of Andrea's house instead of his own property.

Paul Dematteis: "I have been advised by my lawyer not to talk to you."

In our story, Howard said Demattis legally could park in front of someone else's home. Their homeowners association could have stopped it, but they chose not to.

Then our story aired and Paul Dematteis was stunned by the reaction.

Bradley Douglas: "Death threats about the parking situation."

Websites re-broadcast and reprinted our Help me Howard their posters were furious at Paul.

Bradley Douglas: "You are lucky those people are not like me I would defend my life in front of my house and you would be dead."

At the same time, people who watched the story bought Andrea a clunker car, basically saying, do to them what they do to you.

Andrea Banzin: "We moved our clunker car in front of their house and they were irate. They were not happy about it."

And after declining to talk to us in our original story, Paul and his attorney Bradley Douglas sat down with us where we got an answer to the original question. Why did Paul park in front of the Banzins house after they asked him to stop?

Patrick Fraser: "She told you it was aggravating her why didn't you move it?"

Paul Dematteis: "Why should I have to move something that is legally parked. I am really not bothering anybody but them."

But after feeling the wrath in the reaction from posters, Paul has backed down and moved his SVU from in front of the Banzins house.

Paul Dematteis: "I was scared to death for my wife and daughters, me. I can handle myself, my daughter is sitting there crying, who is sending these things."

Bradley Douglas says simply put its over.

Bradley Douglas: "It absolutely is over Mr. Demattis has moved his car he has no intention of moving it back."

Paul says its over.

Paul Dematteis: "I want to be left alone."

And Andrea is glad its over.

Andrea Banzin: "They think we have won but I dont think we have won. It was never a game to me, I just wanted to get my mail."

Andrea can now get her mail. Paul can feel safe at home again. And this Help me Howard has been resolved.

Bradley Douglas: "I dont want to be bothered with them. I dont talk to them. I dont say nothing to them."

Patrick Fraser: "Now the two families did talk face to face the other day. And both said no more parking in front of the others house. Thankfully this is over although I doubt they will be inviting each other over for Thanksgiving dinner."
