Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway - 'Green Goddess Returns' 09/06/2019

The flagship locomotive of the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway - No1 "Green Goddess" - has returned to the rails once again after an overhaul, following a collision with a tractor in 2016.

Early in the autumn of 2016, "Green Goddess" fell victim to a collision with a tractor, causing significant damage to the locomotive and necessitating its immediate withdrawal from service. The RH&DR wasted no time in moving No1 into the workshops at New Romney, for overhaul work to begin in earnest. A little shy of 3 years later, and the efforts demonstrated by the railway, and its dedicated band of volunteers, have paid off.

Celebrating the locomotives' return to service, the RH&DR held a one-day-only event dubbed 'Green Goddess Returns', featuring an intensive timetable which included opportunities to observe the locomotive on display in the iconic landscape surrounding the railway, as well as a parallel run. "Green Goddess" was shouldered by 4 members of the home-fleet for the event, showcasing at least one member of each class based at the railway: Pacific, Mountain, 'North American' Pacific, and Diesel.

Locomotives:
RH&DR Mountain Class - No6 "Samson"
RH&DR Pacific Class - No2 "Northern Chief"
RH&DR Pacific Class - No1 "Green Goddess"
RH&DR 'North American' Pacific Class - No9 "Winston Churchill"
RH&DR Diesel Class - No12 "J.B. Snell"

All footage filmed on Sunday the 9th of June 2019.
