In 1995, Square Co., Ltd. shocked the gaming world when it released Chrono Trigger, an RPG created by “The Dream Team.” Featuring the minds behind Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, in a collaboration that many had always dreamed of, but always felt was impossible!

In 1996, Square followed up with a second Dream Team, joining up with Nintendo to create a new role-playing game with the most famous character of all! Stay here for the story of Super Mario RPG!

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars was a collaboration one could only dream of. A collaboration of Square, who produced some of the best games of the early ’90s, working side by side with Shigeru Miyamoto, the father of Mario, to create a game that ended up being more than the sum of its parts, with a legacy that reverberates today.

Square had been publishing games on Nintendo hardware for about 10 years when Super Mario RPG landed in the spring of 1996. The ties that the two companies had forged over the years made a crossover like Super Mario RPG a very sensible decision on paper, even though the idea took a decade to become reality.
