well, it was certainly something... not a spy thriller, but something 😭 | secret invasion episode 6!

sorry this is a little later than usual! i meant to film it & then edit on the journey but i accidentally fell asleep on the plane 😭 so instead i was editing this during the stolen moments of my trip lol - but better late than never 😅

anyways, i'm sad this show turned out this way... i was really hoping we'd have a tightly written, exciting, nuanced spy thriller, but this was just... not that (at least to me, i'm happy if you liked the show, though! i was just hoping it'd be similar to 'the night manager' for example, to compare it to another slowburn thriller starring olivia colman 😅 or even closer to the vibes of winter soldier, for an mcu comparison) but it just didn't land as well as it could've, in my opinion :/

regardless, i DID enjoy these parts:
-olivia colman
-the dialogue & convos between characters
-varra
-nick fury having a work-life balance (love that for him lol)
-g'iah & monica both being the lil kids from captain marvel growing up to get powers (but i unfortunately have no faith we're going to see them interact again 😭)
-g'iah & varra giving talos a funeral & blending the youthful vigor with the old traditions
-everyone's acting was top-notch (did i MENTION olivia colman?!)
-look fury & varra's relationship really came for my broken buckynat heart i'm sorry, i can't help but love it lmao

but in terms of a spy thriller... it just wasn't my fav :/ & i still personally think maria hill deserved better! but at least we got the global treasure that is olivia colman introduced into the mcu - i hope we see her again! & i also hope we see the ramifications of the vigilantes now taking justice into their own hands. but i feel like the marvels is going to be in space rather than on the ground? idk fury just straight up peaced out on earth again which is relatable but also unfortunate for the mcu civilians lol

(& if they really did just leave gravik's body lying there with all that avengers DNA in him?! ya'll peggy carter will be coming back from beyond the grave to haunt them all 😭)
