Personalized Surgical Simulation of Foot & Ankle by Digital Orthopaedics - Dassault Systèmes. The 3DEXPERIENCE Lab – Dassault Systèmes' startup accelerator – presents the innovative use of personalized surgical platform incorporating clinical reasoning and expertise in clinical decision making to simulate and predict the results of a surgery in silico.
This new approach is transforming orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery with the aim to increase probability of success of the surgery and patient care.

As a first concrete illustration of the future of personalized medicine, discover the new care pathway of a patient treated for a foot surgery in Brussels (Belgium). Dr. Thibaut Leemrijse – co-founder of digital orthopaedics and an expert in foot & ankle surgery – had the opportunity to get a clear diagnostic of the patient’s pathology thanks to the Digital Orthopaedics Clinical Decision Support System.
Then, he obtained from the patient specific 3D in silico virtual model developed by Digital Orthopaedics team a recommendation of surgery plan to treat the patient.
The surgery is implemented in a clinic in Brussels and the outcome of the treatment is evaluated in a gait lab.
The 3D virtual twin of the foot and ankle of the patient was developed based on the real medical imaging of this patient.
