I'm in Cebu, Philippines, and I'm taking a work day to get my photos online and start selling some of my photos. So, I thought I'd walk you through my workflow of how I sell my photos online.
And, if I'm being honest, it's not rocket science, it's just a bit of a process as it takes time to load things online.
So where and how do I sell my travel photos? Well, it's a 4 step process.
First, I send a batch of my files to clients that I have assignments or projects to fill with.
Step 2 is editorial, so I send pitches and image samples to various magazines. Although, I haven't been doing a lot of that lately.
Then, once they've chosen, I send what's left over to the stocks. I sell photos with ShutterStock for microstock and TandemStock as my Rights-Managed Agent.
Then the 4th step is to send the images that were rejected from each of the stocks and try to sell them with the other one.
Generally, it takes a day to get the images sorted.
So, how many photos to I sell online? Honestly, the goal is to sell as many as I can. If I take 100 images, I try to aim to sell 90% of what I keep.
Selling travel photos isn't as hard as people make it out to be, but you definitely need to have the quality of the images, and build a good portfolio of your travel photos.
Tomorrow we'll be back to the travel vlogs as I'm heading to El Nido.
