Blessing of Backpacks and devices

This year we will join many other UU Churches as we come together today to honor all those who will be heading back to school with a blessing of the backpacks. And of course, by backpack we mean your backpack, or gym bag, or dance bag, lunchbox, diaper bag, briefcase, purse, knitting bag, cell phone, tablet, computer, or keychain with its keys to transportation and shelter, because this ritual is not just for those who carry backpacks, but for each and every one of us.

On Sunday August 30, we blessed these stickers that have a message of love from East Shore to each of you. They can be placed on your back pack or device to remind you each day, through technology glitches, stress, and meltdowns. Through things going right and things going wrong that no matter what.

You Are Loved.
When things are at their best and we are at our best we can still forget that we are loved.
When things are going wrong and we are not at our best we can forget that even now we are loved.
May this blessing be a constant reminder that You Are Loved.
