This month, Andy Timmons uses another couple of excerpts from his song “Ghost of You,” which he recorded with the Andy Timmons Band for their 2006 album, Resolution, to demonstrate some cool, effective ways of employing various pick- and fret-hand techniques to create riff patterns that roll nicely off the fretboard. The first is the fingerpicked breakdown section, and the second is a part that follows and is devised of shifting two-note fretboard shapes with recurring open-string pull-offs.
