Normani Shares How Her Mother's Breast Cancer Battle Motivated Her To Release "Wild Side"
Normani shut the entire internet down with the drop of her highly-anticipated "Wild Side" single, which borrows the support of rapper Cardi B. While the visual sent Normani fans over the edge, the singer speaks with Power 106 Midday host Bryhana about the intense pressure she felt coming back to music and the hardships she faced with her family that got her to this point.
Having amassed over 10 million views already, and being the number one trending clip on YouTube, "Wild Side" marks Normani's big return to the music front as she's been absent for more than two years. Speaking on the inspiration behind the record and the cinematic video, Normani shares with Bryhana that a conversation with friend and fellow songwriter/artist Starrah led to the leading single which embraces sexual liberation and pays homage to the 90s and 2000s eras that inspire her the most. Normani also shares how Cardi B came to lace her verse on the Aaliyah-sampled track and how Cardi's support for her as an artist reinvigorated her confidence.
Speaking on her return to music, the "Motivation" singer explained that her family's recent hardship with her Mother being diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time was not only the darkest moment for her but it was also the moment that pushed her to follow through with her craft.
Normani goes on to share what fans can expect next for her and why her forthcoming album will feature all female artists.
