Max Ernst and Modern Collage
In this segment of From the Vault, Emily Moore, Assistant Curator to the Aramont Library, discusses Max Ernst’s Paramythes, a series of poems with eight original collages cut from mail-order catalogs, anatomical texts, and magazines. Moore explains how Ernst used both text and image to examine and challenge the traditional relationship between language and meaning in this small but powerful livre d’artiste.
