Roraima - La montaña más vieja del mundo - Oldest mountain on earth -

Spanish: Sir Walter Ralegh mencionó en 1596 una montaña en forma de meseta desde cuya cumbre se desprendían unas cascadas. Se refería al Roraima la cual, con sus 2700 msnm es el más alto de los muchos tepuis que conforman una cadena de mesetas que se extiende por los territorios de Venezuela, Brasil y Guyana Inglesa. El Roraima es uno de los pocos, si no el único, cuyo ascenso es posible para cualquier visitante dispuesto a caminar 2 días para llegar a su base y luego escalar su pared de unos 500 mts. con un esfuerzo físico de cierto nivel pero altamente reconfortante al llegar a su cima. Paisajes singulares albergan una igualmente singular vida animal y vegetal. Visitar este tepui es una experiencia de vida. Su delicado ambiente solo podrá sobrevivir con el respeto y cuido de todo visitante. Para ello es altamente recomendable utilizar la experta guía e invalorable ayuda de los pemones, habitantes indígenas del territorio, quienes han sabido mantener el lugar de forma prístina desde siempre. He was refering to Mount Roraima, the tallest of all the Tepuy's chain that crosses the bourdering lines of Venezuela, Brazil and British Guiana with 2700 metres above sea level. Mount Roraima is one of the few, if the the only, that can be accessed to anyone who is willing to hike 2 days to reach its base and then climb its rock wall of about 500metres. The physical effort is challenging but highly rewarding when you reach its top. Unique landscapes are habitat to an equally unique floral and faunal ecosystem. To visit this tepuy is a life changing experience. Its fragile ecosystem can only survive with the respect and care of all its vistors.
