Lost Tribes of Israel, Blood and History

Tudor Parfitt

The age old quest to find the fabled lost tribes of Israel and the more recent quest to find other lost Jewish tribes throughout the world received a remarkable boost with the development of modern genetics. One of the first historians to use genetics for research on group origins will show how DNA can provide a window into the past.

Tudor Parfitt is Distinguished Professor in the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs at Florida International University, where he is also the Navon Professor of Sephardi and Mizrahi Jewish Studies and the director of the Global Jewish Studies Program. Parfitt is a noted British historian, broadcaster, and writer who has brought his adventures to numerous audiences through different media. He has presented seven documentaries, and his most recent publications include In the Shadow of Moses: New Jewish Movements in Africa and the Diaspora (2016), Becoming Jewish: New Jews and Emerging Jewish Communities in a Globalized World (2016), and Black Zion ( 2012).
