Triple Header Locomotives to Sale - Steam over the Skyrail

On June 23rd, 2018, Heritage Operator 707 Operations ran a triple header to Sale with Ex-Victorian Railways Steam Locomotive R707 “City of Melbourne” and Heritage Diesel units T413 “Steve Gibson” and H5.

The trip was to operate from Newport to Sale over the very recently completed “Skyrail” project between Caulfield and Dandenong. Because of this, R707 "City of Melbourne" made history by becoming the first steam locomotive to operate over the newly opened project.

R707 then ran tender first to Traralgon, where the locomotive would be turned, then continue to Melbourne.
