DUPERS DELETED by Intrepid - Never Look a Gift Horse in Mouth? | #ashesofcreation Alpha 2 #mmorpg

On week 4 of the Ashes of Creation Alpha 2 Play Test I was attacked by about 5 players while I was solo grinding on my Level 10 Mage NineCasts on Resna. I saw the group power leveling nearby, so I stayed in my own area outside Halcyon and grinded the local mobs. These individuals then proceeded to gang up on me and kill me. I assumed they were trying to force me to leave the area, I wasn't standing for that and I returned to fight them 1 on 5. I managed to kill a few of them multiple times, but being 5 on 1 I was also killed repeatedly and suffered XP loss. I told them all they were cowards and I asked them to fight me 1 on 1, none of them had the guts to do that. I wasn't too upset about the incident, it sucked but this is a PVP game and I said in my first videos on this channel that this is the type of thing that can happen in a game with open world PVP.

During my live stream the next day towards the end a player named EPH Scott ran up behind me when I was in the middle of grinding out money and learn animal husbandry to create a bear mount. He tried to open a trade and I thought it was a mistake, so I initially ignored him. I was talking to my friend in Discord as you can see in this video, EPH Scott proceeded to get my attention and ask to trade again and said it was for killing me the other day on his other toon Envious Scott. I accepted the gift and I assumed he was just a player that had a lot of guild mates and had progressed through the game at a high rate and was able to make these mounts. Because he had engaged in the griefing behavior the day before I was suspicious of the gift, I saw others thanking him repeatedly for receiving one from him and they all seemed to be people they had ganked and griefed as they had done to me. So I chalked it up to the guy probably seeing if he could buy votes to get elected as mayor to get a flying mount. Little did I know he had basically been one of the people exploiting a duping bug, I found this out after the weekend play test. Turns out Intrepid took quick, decisive action against about 100 players and erased their characters if they were found to have been engaging in repeated exploitation of this bug. This individual and maybe some of his guild mates could be logging in to find their characters are wiped. This is great news to see that Intrepid and Steven handle this type of issue and take it very seriously. I can't stand cheaters like this and I am glad this issue has been handled quickly. This is a big plus for Intrepid Studios and it gives players even more confidence in their product. It's unfortunate that there are individuals like this running around, but now their accounts are flagged and if they think they can get away with such exploits, they will likely end up perma-banned from the game. While it was cool to test drive the epic mount gift this guy handed to me, in hindsight, this is a situation where the gift horse needed to be looked at in the mouth. My horse should be gone and my friend's horse is also gone since he was given one by EPH Scott. Don't do this people, don't cheat and exploit the game! Players like myself are trying to play the game as it should be played and trying to help Intrepid squash bugs before release. This type of BS is what ruins great games, now you know Intrepid will be taking action quickly against your account if you ignore this warning.
