Don't Filter in Excel, Try This Instead

Try the DSUM function for filtering in Excel, especially for multiple criteria.

In this DSUM tutorial, if you've tried the filter tool in Excel, you'll realize that it can be quite tedious, especially when dealing with multiple filtering criteria. You need to click on a lot of places, and some rules seem to mess up the other rules you added. Also, when use SUM the amounts, it includes the unfiltered data, which makes the final answer wrong and very confusing. That's where the DSUM function comes handy. First, we compare the DSUM function vs the filter tool when just filtering with one criteria. Second we use the DSUM for filtering based on three criteria and why it's easier than the SUMIFS. Third, we use the DSUM with the OR condition, so we can filter for more than one type of criteria. Fourth, we try a criteria range like a time frame from one date to another. Fifth, we look at other database functions like the DAVERAGE or the DCOUNT functions. Finally, we look at the limitations of the DSUM function, especially with how you structure the data.
