CMS prepares for the High-Luminosity LHC
The CMS experiment is undergoing major changes over the course of the current long shutdown of CERN's accelerator complex (called Long Shutdown 2 or LS2). These upgrades will help prepare CMS for the era of the High-Luminosity LHC, which will be the next phase of the Large Hadron Collider, from around 2026 onwards.
The CMS Technical Coordinator, Austin Ball, describes the work being done in the deep-underground cavern where the CMS detector is located on the LHC ring.
