Gas Pipe Line Strymon River Crossing

The 36'' Gas pipe line crossed Strymon River, on November 1992. A quite special and unique construction work was performed. Strymon River bed, it was deviated.Αn embarkment was temporarily constructed above the river original bed.The embakement was stabilized by sheet piling parallel to the side of the excavation (before river side).Pipe trench was excavated inside river perpendicular to the river bed direction as per the pipeline route. The pipe spool of 265 tons, which it had been prefabricated well in advance, it was lowered into the trench inside river bed on the 8th of Novemebr 1992.All phases of construction are shown in detail at this video.
