Gorumara Jungle Safari is a very exciting and thrilling part of our Dooars tour. This video will show our Jeep Safari in Gorumara Forest. Gorumara National Park covers an area of around 80 sq. Km. in the Dooars region. Distance from New Jalpaiguri station to Gorumara National Park is 59 km. and from Malbazar 22 km.
We started very early at about 5.30 a.m. in the morning for our safari because we booked the first morning safari which started from 6 am.Our driver from Batabari resort Motiyar Rahaman ( Ph. No. 8918605513) arranged the safari. We did not have to stand in front of booking counter at Lataguri. We paid Rs. 2300/- for each of two jeeps that picked us up from the resort and dropped in the resort itself. Now each jeep takes 4 persons instead of 6.
We scanned the jungle driving through the earthen jungle trail. We were lucky to spot two peacocks, one big bison and a few barking deer.
Neora Jungle camp in the core of the Gorumara National Park is a very interesting place to stay. We stopped there for a while .The cottage is nestled in the midst of dense green forest by the side of Neora river. .

Gorumara Jeep Safari cost around Rs. 2200/- or 2300/- per jeep if driver of the resort is requested to arrange the safari.
One can also stand in front of the booking counter at Lataguri for booking a jeep safari.
Safari takes place in two shifts in the morning and in two shifts in the afternoon.
Instead of Jeep safari there is watch tower safari as well for which tickets are to be booked separately from different counters of a different place in Lataguri.
Visitors have to carry photocopy of photo ID card for booking safaries.
Jeep safari cost includes Gypsies charge, Gypsies entry fee, Guide charge and visitors entry fee and also camera charge.
Two safaries are held in the morning and two safaries are held in the afternoon shift.
Each safari takes one and half to two hours.
Morning safaries : 6 am to 7.30 am. and 8.30 am.to 10 am.(March to September).
6.30 am to 8 am and 9 am to 10.30 am (October to February)
Afternoon safaries: 2 pm.to 3.30 pm. and 4.30 pm. to 6 pm.(March to September).
1 pm to 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm to 5 pm (October to February).
Booking starts about half an hour before.
