What was your first car and would you happily own one again? If not why not?
We look at some of the improvements that manufacturers have made over the years, many of which were to meet emissions regulations, but the upside is that cars are more efficient than ever and we get more power from every drop of fuel compared to 40 years ago.
Cars are very complex though, but with OBDII ports diagnoses can be simpler if you know what you are doing and where to look.
Many assert you need computer skills to properly care for a modern car, so is this progress or a step backwards?
Are cars more powerful and more reliable than they used to be? Let's look at some stats so we can compare.
At least the modern car is often able to give you a clue as to which system has failed or is causing a problem, whereas years ago we had to check each part of the combustion process from fuel and air to spark before we could diagnose the problems and often fixes would be temporary at best.
