LIVE: India Pushes Back 4,000 Bangladeshi Immigrants in Sweeping Crackdown | Operation Sindoor

Mass Deportation In India: India has deported over 2,000 alleged illegal Bangladeshi immigrants since launching Operation Sindoor on May 7, with another 2,000 reportedly crossing the border voluntarily amid fears of detention. The crackdown follows a nationwide verification drive and is focused along the Bangladesh border in Tripura, Assam, and Meghalaya. Detainees are flown by IAF aircraft to makeshift border camps before being “pushed back.” Most are poor laborers, willing to return rather than face jail. Officials warn the deportations may strain ties with Bangladesh once weekly numbers reach 10,000–20,000. Biometric tracking is being introduced.
