Earlier this week Helium announced that they are going to enter the 5G arena with the help of FreedomFi and a matching, brand new 5G Helium miner. Does this mean it is time to cancel your current order, sell the devices you have and start saving up for a 5G model? No, not at all.

First of all, this is a test and more of a proof of concept. It shows that the Helium network can easily be applied to new technlogies and provide decentralised telecom solutions regardless of the underlying hardware. How great is that? It increases the potential of the Helium project massively and makes it future proof.
