Indica is a book written by the Greek Ambassador Megasthenes. He had been sent to Chandragupta Maurya’s court in 303 BC by the Greek ruler Seleucus. Megasthenes remained in Pataliputra, the capital of the Mauryan empire and wrote ‘Indica’ during his stay. In the book, he records his impressions of India of the Mauryan period. Megasthenes’s original Indica has been lost, but parts of it still survive in the writings of later Greek authors like Starbo, Arrian, Diodorous, Plutarch and Justin. Another Book named Indica inspired by Megasthenes's Book was written by Arrian in 2nd Century AD. This Video has been made by considering the details found in the Translated books of British Era. India in 300 BC was Incredible in it's nature as it was a complete civilised country and was a Republic with no signs of slavery, no dowry system, no Gender Inequality. There was a Caste System in India which was purely based on Profession and all castes lived with each other in Harmony. The Seven Castes were the Sages, Tillers of the Soil / Husbandmen, the Herdsmen, the Handicraftsmen and Retail Dealers, the Warriors, the Superintendents and the Councillors of State. There were other Professions as well which were not included in these main seven castes of 300 BC India. For.E.g there were Doctors called Vaidyas who were experts in curing different type of diseases. This Caste system was even beneficial as it formed a Perfect Division for Economic Growth of the Country at that time and therefore India was Top in the World in terms of Trading during the Mauryan Rule. So much so that it is even mentioned in the Indiaca Book that People used to sleep with their Houses unguarded and people of India did not know how to borrow or lend money to anyone because they never required to do that. This shows how much string the Economy of the country was as a result of which every individual was self dependent and self sufficient.
