Life on a U.S. Navy coastal patrol ship

A day in life of Petty Officer 1st Class Keevan Haynes aboard the U.S. Navy Coastal Patrol Ship the USS Typhoon. Haynes is not only the only culinary specialist onboard, but on such a small ship every sailor must strive to learn and do things outside their rating.

The U.S. Navy has 13 of these 179-foot ships crewed by about 25 sailors. Eight of them are currently forward deployed to Bahrain to operate in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
