Explaining a mechanical over rev vs just an over rev mean a bump off the rev limiter. Why this is important and what are the big diffrences between a mechanical over rev.

Porsche 911 turbos 2005 and erly
2004 non turbo and erly 911s
Thesr have ranges 1 and 2 - Range 2 can be a big problem depending on revolutions of time spent. This needs to be calculated to determine total time. Leak down test recommended with range 2, runing compression and Camshaft deviation including static and dianamic test.

2007 and later 911 turbo models
2005 and later 911 non turbos models
These have ranges 1 through 6
Range 1 is bumping off the rev limiter no big deal.
Range 2 can also pick up bumps off the rev limiter.
Range 3 is a mechanical over rev, mis shift.

Range 4, 5, and 6 are all mechanical over reves.
