Age later: Lessons for this pandemic and the next | Dr Nir Barzilai

Ageing is the underlying cause of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer and neuro-degenerative diseases. In the past year, the data has shown that old age has been the number one contributor to #COVID19 related hospitalisations, disability, and deaths.

Geroscientists have long hypothesized that by targeting the biology of #ageing, all diseases of ageing can be delayed. Therefore, the geroscience approach will be critical in tackling further infections and pandemics.

This session, Dr Nir Barzilai, Director of the Institute for Aging Research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, shares more on the geroscience approach and its relevance in the #pandemic.
