Light Air Asymmetric Spinnaker Jibe
A well executed light air asymmetric spinnaker jibe by the J109 'Gut Feeling' showing fast trim and a smooth turn. In addition to the well coordinated trim and driving this jibe is noteworthy for the delayed jibe of the main.
Lots to like here with weight forward and a slow smooth turn coordinated to the pace of trim. Note how the spinnaker is jibed to a 'wing-on-wing' position and the turn follows. Note also the delayed jibe of the main, holding the boom back and then letting it go once pressured up. This helps fill the spinnaker, flip the main battens, and blows the main through the backstay. Good for very light air such as this. (Use this technique only when air is so light that you can easily hold the boom.)
One more detail: the driver finds a nice 'exit angle' to accelerate out of the jibe.
What more could they do? Perhaps more aggressive use of weight to heel the boat into the jibe and flatten coming out.
Overall an excellent light air jibe.
