Lempuyang Temple Bali - Look at This Masterpiece - Mt. Agung

Lempuyang Temple Bali and its iconic "Gates of Heaven" (Candi Bentar) top the bucket list of most Bali visitors. It was certainly at the top of ours as well. Located in Karangasem in the Eastern part of the island, Lempuyag Temple Bali is one of the Sad Kahyangan Temples.

Our plan was to hire a driver to make the two hour trek from Jimbaran to the temple and then drop us off at our hotel we booked for the weekend in Ubud. Along the hour and a half drive to Ubud from Lempuyang Temple we stopped at the famous Tirta Gangga and Turkad Cepung waterfall.

For a 10 hour day trip we spent 600,000 IDR which is $42.43.

Lempuyang Temple is probably one of the most "instagramable" attractions in all of Bali. Due to Covid 19, a typical 2 hour wait to get pictures between the Candi Bentar gate with Mount Agung towering through the sky in the background, has turned into your very own personal playground.

We arrived at 8am and were the only visitors on site. We walked right up to get photos and stayed for an hour uninterrupted. If you are in Bali now I highly recommend going while lines are non-existent. The best time to visit the temple is on a clear day at sunrise.

We paid 120,000 IDR to get in for 2 adults and Cameron was free. That is $8.49 total.

Don't forget to get pictures on the swing that overlooks Mt. Agung. It is located at the bottom of the hill coming from Lempuyang Temple. To get pictures on the swing is 10,000 IDR per person which comes to $1.41 total.
