James Cameron's Avatar franchise is a planned series of science fiction films produced by Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment and distributed by 20th Century Studios.

2009: The story focuses on an epic conflict on Pandora, an inhabited Earth-sized moon of Polyphemus, one of three gas giants orbiting Alpha Centauri A

2022: It is known that the film will be set several years after the first and will explore the oceans of Pandora. The film was originally planned for a December 2014 release, but has been delayed several times and is currently scheduled for December 16, 2022.
