The restoration of a 1978 Citroen 2CV from start to finish.

If you're thinking of embarking on doing this for yourself, please watch this first as it'll give you some insight into what's involved. It was a thoroughly rewarding experience but just be prepared for the amount of hours required, plus the kit and skills.
I was lucky, Wilma was a joy to work on, a south of France car, well looked after/garaged previously so very little rust for a 40 year old 2CV, a really solid and original example and a good place to start, not one thing seized/broke off or was a real problem (even after being stood for 17 years) you may not be so lucky with a really crusty late 80's car, especially one left in the open..
Also beware of costs, this restoration was a sympathetic one using as much of the original car as possible (more hours, less spent on parts), it still cost over £2000 in parts and materials, on top of the initial cost of the car, it took hundreds of hours, from June 2017 to August 2018. Some cars might take £3000 or more in parts to put them right and maybe even more time. It's very rewarding but there is no easy way to do this.
The 19 page DIY hood building guide I've written is available on request, the hood materials/tools cost around £60 in total.
