Coronavirus: 28-day extension of prohibition on indoor gatherings in Toronto amid case spike | FULL

Toronto's Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa announced Tuesday the extension of prohibition on indoor social gatherings in the city for a 28-day period, beginning Nov. 14.

Dining in will remain prohibited at restaurants, bars, and food or drink establishments.

Meetings and event spaces, casinos, bingo halls and other gaming establishments will also remain closed under the new order.

Dr. de Villa also made the strong recommendation for residents to limit their close contacts to their household members, and to strict social gatherings.

She also strongly recommended for businesses to implement work-from-home policies wherever possible, as the second wave of COVID-19 is hitting much harder than the first wave.

Toronto reported 520 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, the highest single-day record since the beginning of the pandemic.
