When the water level in a dam rises above its limit, the spillway automatically pulls excess water into the massive vertical drain. The water then flows through underground tunnels and is safely released downstream.

Some of these spillways can move over 1.5 million liters of water per second, creating a powerful vortex that can pull in anything that comes too close.

Although it looks fascinating, it can be extremely dangerous if someone gets too close while it is active.
