Northern Tour 2025 | All-Out on the Hill

The Cycling New Zealand Schools NZSS Northern Tour, 30–31 August 2025.

Normally a three-stage race — time trial, hill climb, and criterium — but this year the crit was cancelled due to rain. We still headed to the venue to set up, helping ensure the younger riders could race before the weather closed in.

On Saturday, Jona paced the time trial carefully, saving everything for the hill climb. When it came time to go, he gave it absolutely everything.

The result: 2:17 — down from 2:36 last year.

Still a way off the winning time of 1:52… but if that kind of improvement continues, 2026 could be very interesting.
