Arduino + Adafruit MusicMaker MP3 player and PIR
This project was commissioned by a local artist. The art object is a 1950's era beauty shop hair dryer. The scope was to play a random mp3 file when a person approached the art piece. Components include an Arduino Uno, Adafruit Music Maker shield and PIR (Passive Infrared) motion detector.
One of the problems encountered is that the system volume info on the memory card attempted to play as a file. This was solved by moving the tracks into a subdirector called /mp3/. Additional code was written to read the subdirectory. In the second iteration, header pins were added with shrink wrap and a zip tie to provide strain relief to the fragile PIR wires.
