Kate Bowler, professor of religious history at Duke University, had a dream life before it all fell apart. She had a dream job, was married to her high school sweetheart and had her first child, but then she was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. Bowler proceeded to beat cancer, but found that she wasn’t happy. In her upcoming book, ‘Joyful Anyway’ Bowler explains the difference between happiness and joy, how to cultivate joy in your life, and how women in particular struggle to be truly happy.
