LCM+L PDP-7 booting and running UNIX Version 0
A brief demonstration of PDP-7 serial number 129 boot strapping UNIX Version 0 and compiling a Hello World. The original PDP-7 at Bell Telephone Laboratories used an RC09 / RB09 disk controller and fixed disk option. Rather than try to find a disk and controller to restore or even attempt to emulate RC09/RB09 a new device was designed when it was discovered that serial number 129 had a custom IO controller used for data acquisition. This video features the new JK09 storage device designed by Jeff Kaylin and where it attaches to the machine. Josh Dersch wrote what could possibly be the first new device driver for UNIX Version 0 in over 45 years to support the JK09.
