Fireside Chat with Ms. Joylette Hylick, moderated by Dr. Wanda Austin

We were thrilled to host Ms. Joylette Hylick for the Aerospace Black Caucus' African American History Month Keynote Speaker event Feb. 23.

Ms. Joylette Hylick is the eldest daughter of the late Katherine Johnson, NASA mathematician whose life and technical contributions to the space industry were represented in the 2016 film Hidden Figures. With her mother and sister Katherine, she co-authored her mother’s memoirs, “My Remarkable Journey,” which was released in 2021. Joylette has traveled throughout the United States and South Africa, accepting awards, and making presentations on behalf of her mother, Katherine Johnson.

Ms. Hylick is a mathematician in her own right. She graduated from Hampton Institute (University) in Hampton, VA with a B.S. degree in Mathematics and later earned her M.S. degree in Information Systems from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. She began her professional career at NASA Langley Research Center, where her mother ended her career. Joylette continued her 38-year career as an information technology professional, a programmer, in systems integration and project management. Her last 18 years were spent at Lockheed Martin Corporation where she retired in 2002.
