Why Narcissists try to destroy you when you are leaving the relationship

Narcissists have a scorched earth policy and operate in “splitting”. They see you as all good or all bad. Black and white thinking. They are unable to see shades of grey. They are motivated by maintaining their “mask of perfection”, “their image”. They have fragile egos and you leaving suggests their may be something wrong with them. Their fragile egos cannot handle that fact.
