Love Unlimited ~ High Steppin' Hip Dressin' Fella 1979 Disco Purrfection Version

Dedicated to my friend niecy at chillin616 here on youtube. She reminded me of this one and yeah, its an R&B classic. a big MWAH to ya, sistah! I LOVE ya!
Love Unlimited's "High Steppin' Hip Dressin' Fella (You Got It)" from their final LP "Love Is Back" released in 1979 explores the same territory as Sister Sledge's "He's The Greatest Dancer" and shares more than a bit of the Chic magic although it's done Barry White's way. The clipped vocals paired with the muted horn charts and the judicious use of strings to fill out that phat bass line beat were very much what music was about in 1979. But sadly the group's recording career came to an end with this their 5th release. I'll bet you did not know that the "Under The Influence of Love Unlimited" LP that contained the #1 instrumental "Love's Theme" helped them to be the first female group to reach the top 5 on the album charts since Diana Ross & The Supremes did it with their "Greatest Hits Volume 3" album in 1970. "High Steppin'" peaked at #45 on the 1979 R&B charts and then two more singles from that LP failed to make Top 70. They also made an appearance on the 1974 "Together Brothers" movie soundtrack with Barry in the producers seat handling production of the entire project. The movie has a 3.9 star rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is worth seeking out. The TCM website has the DVD for sale and iTunes has the soundtrack available for digital download here Barry White - Together Brothers (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture) - https://itun.es/i6dY843 #iTunes
