Ukyo Katayama (Tyrrell 023) qualifying run - 1995 Italian Grand Prix

Ukyo Katayama is the latest driver to set a time at Monza during the opening qualifying session for the 1995 Italian Grand Prix. In his third year with the Tyrrell team, Ukyo endured a tough 1995 campaign, in contrast to the previous season in which he scored several points and frequently demonstrated impressive speed. In this session he set a best time of 1''31.399 (19th), and improved to 1''29.287 (17th) the following day. In the race, he ran competitively before being delayed first by a slow pitstop, and then by an engine sensor problem, which left him six laps down and unclassified at the finish. His team-mate, Mika Salo, scored the team's first points of the year in the other car.
