As we said in part one, playmaking ability down the field is where Justin Herbert made his money last season. His confidence was key…“I believe my throw and my receiver are better than the defender.” In this episode we see more of that big arm, more big plays, more of the accuracy and athleticism on display, but we also dive into his ability to see and understand the movement of the defense. He generally showed solid recognition and processing to get through his reads…great awareness and understanding of what’s going on around him and because of that, on each play, understanding what his real/best options are.

Something he really needs to work on going into next year is his presence in the pocket and his ability to set. If he doesn’t have it right away, slide up and allow things to play out. Processes the movement, the coverage, and where the void is and get the ball out to your playmaker.

When you can handle the pressure, you can recognize things quickly and get the ball out of your hands, you’ve got a real chance to be special.
