HEART-BREAKING: Wife sings "Amazing Grace" to dying husband

SO touching! Watch as Danielle sings her husband's favorite hymn to him as he lay dying in his nursing home bed - as Tony recognizes the song and mouths some words of the song.

Sadly, only three days later, Tony had slipped away - eight months after contracting CJD, the human form of mad cow disease. The handsome young man, who was only 33, had become quickly disabled by the disease, losing his cognitive skills and ability to eat or swallow, at the end.

"The doctors told me it was just the process of the body shutting down. It was so hard to see because Tony is so strong; he's such a big guy," said Daniellle, who shared that it started in December 2017 when the iron worker started forgetting how to get around his home.

The couple at first thought Tony may be suffering from dementia, but in mid 2018, discovered that he had contracted CJD disease, most likely from eating contaminated meat.

Danielle adored her husband, with whom she had two sets of twin girls. She tried to prepare for the loss of her beloved soulmate, which of course was impossible.

"The hospice nurse tried to tell me it would get worse after he passed," said Danielle. "I told her that I thought it wasn't the case because for the past year I felt he was already gone. But she was right; you can't prepare yourself for this. Everything reminds me of him, every time I look at our babies, it's so hard."

Danielle donated Tony's brain to the CJD Foundation, to help doctors find a cure or some form of treatment. The family also has created a GoFundMe page - https://www.gofundme.com/6kxsbdc - - to cover the cost of Tony's medical bills and provide financial relief for his wife and children.
