US SUBVETS OF WWII National Convention-1984 (Stabilized)

The Memorial Ceremony of the 1984 US Submarine Veterans of World War II Convention was held aboard the USS SILVERSIDES (SS 236) at Navy Pier in Chicago. The video was made with an amateur camera and is shaky and zoomy but the Tolling of the Boats ceremony was very moving. This is dedicated to my parents, Frank E. O'Dowd who served five war patrols aboard USS SHAD (SS-235) and Margaret Dempsey O'Dowd who served as a WAVE during WWII, and the men of the 52 submarines lost during the war.
