Adverbs of Manner: How to use Adverbs of Manner to Improve English Grammar! 様態の副詞を使って英文法を上達させる方法！

HOW was the action done? Beautifully? Well? Terribly? Badly? Quickly? In today’s English lesson you will learn how to use adverbs of manner to talk about how verbs are done.

First, this English grammar lesson will take a detailed look at adverbs and manner and answer the questions ‘what is an adverb of manner’ and ‘why do we use adverbs of manner?’ Note: Adverbs of manner describe how a verb is done in English. They explain how an action happens. In the sentence “You speak English well”, ‘well’ is an adverb of manner which is helping to explain how you speak English.

Next, this lesson about adverbs of manner will teach you how to use adverbs of manner by examining where in a sentence to put an adverb of manner. There are three possible places where an adverb of manner can go:
1) Adverbs of manner usually go directly after the verb they’re describing. For example: I laughed loudly. She drives badly.
2) If the verb has a direct object, the adverb of manner goes directly after the object. For example: She donated the money generously. I refused his request politely.
3) Although less common, an adverb of manner can go directly before the verb it is describing. For example: She patiently waited. My parents clearly said no.

Finally, this adverbs of manner lesson will teach you how to make adverbs of manner in English. Most of the time, to create adverbs of manner, you simply add ‘-ly’ to the end of the adjective. For example: Loud - Loudly, Quick - Quickly, Slow - Slowly, etc. For other adverbs of manner, the adverb and the adjective are actually the exact same word. For example: Fast, Hard, Easy, Far, Late, etc. Other adverbs of manner are unique and need to be memorized. For example: Good -Well.
